From the series: Basic Christian Discipleship
By Matthew Steven Black
Confidence and hope increase when we learn and remember who we are in Christ. Throughout the New Testament we are given reminders of what God has done for us and the precious promises of what it means to belong to Jesus. Our identity is found in Jesus.
We never find our identity by ourselves, in ourselves. The way in which we have been created really has to do with this fundamental, biblical conviction that we are reflectors: we are images, we are mirrors, if you will. We never called to listen to the lies in our flesh or in this world about ourselves. God says who we are in Christ. We are called to reflect God by worshipping him. We are exactly who God says we are.
